Detection and measurement of environmental toxins found in field samples with gas chromatography techniques provides the non-science major an opp ortunity to make connections between field work and quantitative lab analy sis. GC techniques, using smaller-scale instruments designed for field analysis, are used in non-major environmental science courses. Specific exercises for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of trihalomethanes in water supplies will be provided.
