Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy

Dr. Hoagland

I teach this course with an emphasis on evolutionary and functional morphology. Students learn how to conduct a scientific investigation, and practice the process of scientific reasoning in pursuit of an understanding of the basic concepts of anatomy as they apply to vertebrates. Multiple opportunities exist for students to demonstrate their understanding of the process of science and the concepts introduced during this course. Students participate in class discussions, conduct a semester long project and submit the results of this study as a web poster, take laboratory practicals, and take written exams.
