Philosophy: Students enrolled in my courses engage in the process of science. They learn how to conduct scientific investigations, practice the process of scientific reasoning in a pursuit of an understanding of the basic concepts of biology, and work collaboratively. Science is not complete until the practitioner communicates her/his findings/understanding to others. Therefore, students in my classes must persuade others through use of printed and spoken words.
I have been studying the population biology and genetics of introduced insular small Indian mongoose populations since the late 1970s. You can learn more about this research at mongoose.wsc.ma.edu.
